UN Denies Comments on Corruption Attributed to UN Official
Baghdad,13March2017 –TheUnited Nations categorically denies that Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Iraq, Ms. Lise Grande, had spoken or issued comments recently on corruption in Iraq critical of the relief effort to assist the displaced that is under way in Mosul.
The comments which appeared on Asharqiya News television on Sunday, 12 March 2017, attributed to her regarding corruption are baseless.
The United Nations team in Iraq, including agencies, Funds and Programmes, along with humanitarian partners, are working closely with the relevant ministries of the Iraqi government in Mosul and across the country to provide life-saving support to the hundreds of thousands of displaced and in need.
