Hammurabi Human Rights Organization responded to the invitation of the round-table dialogue between the Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates in Erbil and the Committee for Religious Freedom and Prevention of Discrimination in the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq.
H.E. Ambassador Ahmad Ibrahim Saeed Al Daheri, Consul General of the United Arab Emirates, invited Hammurabi Human Rights Organization to attend this dialogue, held at the United Arab Emirates /Consulate General headquarters in Erbil on 30 January 2024, on the occasion of the International Day of Human Fraternity, 4 February 2024.
The round-table dialogue addressed religious freedoms, peaceful coexistence and fraternity among human beings and ways to enhance them globally, addressing intellectual extremism and its negative aspects, and promoting human Fraternity
His Excellency the Emirati Consul confirmed that the “International Day of Human Fraternity” came as a culmination of the declaration of the “Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Coexistence” signed by His Eminence the Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Pope Francis Pop of the Catholic Church,
The global event, which took place in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, on February 4, 2019, represents a joint declaration calling for the promotion of the culture of mutual respect and the dissemination of the values of peace and coexistence as well as a constitution of noble principles and high morals that call for mercy, tolerance and forgiveness.
. It is to be mentioned that the United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution declaring February 4 “International Day of Human Fraternity,” and the international community will celebrate this day annually starting in 2021.
His Excellency noted that the UAE embraces 200 nationalities living on its land and enjoying a decent life.
He also praised the special experience lived in the Kurdistan region of Iraq regarding religious diversity and the laws that protect the freedoms of religious components through peaceful coexistence and prevention of discrimination and freedom of religion and belief among all sects and components of the Iraqi people residing in the region and practicing their rituals, worship, beliefs, traditions and occasions with complete freedom and safety.
The participating attendees stressed, through their interventions, that a human being was born to be free in his opinion and that there should be a kind of justice among all human beings.
