On Occasion of Christmas and New Year’s, Hammurabi Human Rights Organization Continues with Aid Campaign for Orphans and Poor in Baghdad and Other Iraqi Cities

During the month of December, the Hammurabi Human Rights Organization carried out a humanitarian aid campaign for the poor, orphans and people with special needs. This included the distribution of winter clothes (jackets) and school supplies, including bags, stationery and other items, in the poor areas of Baghdad and its outskirts. The campaign also covered other governorates, including Erbil, Duhok, Diwaniyah and Basra.

 

On December 19, 2024, it distributed winter clothing to orphaned children in one of the centers affiliated with the Labor and Social Affairs Ministry. This was done at the Popular Training Center in the Banks neighborhood, during a football match organized to entertain the orphans. The distribution took place during the break between the two halves.

 

This event was sponsored by the Labor and Social Affairs Ministry’s Undersecretary, who distributed the jackets to the beneficiaries, numbering more than fifty people. A team from the Hammurabi Organization participated in the event, including: project supervisor William Warda, along with a number of members and volunteers from the organization, including: Dr. Sayf ‘Adnan, Sattar ‘Abd al-Jabbar, Waqar ‘Ali, Yasin ‘Ali, Haytham Majid and ‘Imad ‘Abd.

 

On the other hand, the Hammurabi Organization distributed winter clothing in the Municipalities area to poor and needy Palestinian refugees at the al-Quds Mosque on December 22, 2024, benefiting approximately ninety people, including male and female children. The distribution was attended by: William Warda, Dr. Sayf ‘Adnan, Waqar ‘Ali, and Yasin ‘Ali.

 

On December 24, 2024, the Hammurabi Organization team, in cooperation with the Labor and Social Affairs Ministry, distributed winter clothing at the Iraqi-Korean Center affiliated with the said Ministry, benefiting 72 people with special needs and the poor. Mrs. Dhikra ‘Abd al-Rahim, Head of the Authority for People with Disabilities and Special Needs, and a number of cadres from the Labor and Social Affairs Ministry, participated in this humanitarian work. The Hammurabi team that participated in the distribution included William Warda, Sattar ‘Abd al-Jabbar, Hakob Hayk, Waqar ‘Ali, Haytham Majid, and Ibrahim Husayn.

 

On the same day, a delegation from the Hammurabi Organization, including Muhammad ‘Isam Midhat, Husayn Kamal ‘Abdullah, Yasin ‘Ali Karim, and Maryam Ahmad, distributed school bags with stationery at al-Siddiq Mixed Elementary School in the Khan ‘Abdullah area, affiliated with the al-Mahmudiyah District’s al-Yusufiyah Sub-District. A total of 71 school bags were distributed there, 33 of which were for male students and 38 for female students.

 

On December 27, 2024, the distribution included the al-Suwayb area/al-Salam village in the southwestern outskirts of Baghdad, benefiting one hundred poor and needy children, both boys and girls. The distribution was carried out by Vice President of the Hammurabi Organization Dr. Muhammad Kazim, William Warda, Shamshi Yusuf, and ‘Imad ‘Abd.

 

As the organization’s Public Relations Director Mr. William Warda told Nergal News Agency: “This project’s goal is to bring joy and reassurance to the souls of the poor, orphans, and people with special needs, and to make them feel that there are those who feel their suffering and conditions, helping them as much as possible, in addition to promoting the culture of planting love among the members of Iraqi society.”

 

It is noteworthy that the Hammurabi Organization had carried out similar distributions in Erbil, which included poor children in different schools. A team from the Hammurabi Organization branch in Erbil additionally contributed to the distribution mission in Duhok, where the team distributed to the poor and orphans in villages and centers within the governorate, including the Orphanage Center for boys and the Nuns Center, which includes female orphans, both in Alqosh.

 

For the period from 18 to 20 December 2024, a team from the Hammurabi Human Rights Organization distributed winter clothing (jackets) to schools of the displaced affiliated with the Nineveh representation: Sarah and Behnam, Baharkah, al-Adhra’ al-Ula, al-Rafidain, al-Salam, and Aghsan al-Karmah Schools. The number of jackets distributed was 188, to both males and females.
