On this global occasion for them, Hammurabi Human Rights Organization congratulates women in Iraq and the world on their international day: March 8th, 2025, where they express their joy on this very important day, despite being in conditions similar to the labor of a difficult birth, in which the work of going back throughout the struggle does not end. Without a doubt, women across the world, thanks to their struggle, have been able to achieve many important gains, where even in some countries that adhere to traditions and customs that affect women's rights, women's voices have been heard at the national and international levels, albeit reluctantly due to the increasing male sense of hostility to women's competition with men! Women continued to sacrifice, aware of the value of the human being for which these gains were achieved, realizing that the human being means: her daughter, son, husband, family, the people of her region, country and the world, i.e. everyone around her from near and far, thus setting off from the small nest of society (the family) to in turn storm even the political arenas, fighting racism and discrimination in all its forms by participating effectively in revolutions and the march of scientific and technological progress in most countries of the world.
Yes, women did not work for themselves first, but sacrificed for the entire society. Our experience in family life and public service and our knowledge of the experiences of thousands of women in various situations, we perceive daily and clearly, the fact that, if there are those who forget women and are not among their priorities in their calculations, they are: they themselves bear the burden of everyone, whatever the circumstances. As for themselves, many women do not give real status to themselves and do not occupy their thoughts with themselves as one of the basic concerns, but often cover their needs in the simplest, fastest and least possible way, in order to devote themselves to making those around them happy. As for their happiness, they often look to the success of their family! This in itself represents a great value, although it contains a kind of self-injustice inherent in the generosity of their nature, which is sometimes unusually giving, and far from feeling the victim. While there is an urgent need for women to focus on themselves as well, if not more, then equally with what they offer to others. That is, we women and men must stop "putting women at the end of the list". Because the end of the list facilitates and supports describing women with what is not part of their nature, which is equal to their male counterpart in humanity and enjoyment of opportunities. This is what equality means, inherent in inalienable dignity and indivisible rights: the same as men. This equality is in the deep moral value, not in appearances and differences in physiological nature or even in muscular ability.
Let men celebrate International Women's Day before others, from whom they derived from the first moment of their existence and in whose womb, they were provided with the capabilities and advantages of their human existence. In addition, women are the primary source of education and the composition of the history of profound morals for every human being, for whom they bear the burden of everything required for the physical, psychological, mental, etc. development of men and women alike.
What is required is to recognize their value, not with resonant and poetic words, but by standing by their cause and participating in the work of lifting injustice from them, to change the old inferior view that diminishes their humanity and creative abilities and bears witness to bearing the burden of others, stripped of the priority of their personal interest due to their ability to sacrifice themselves for others. This ability to truly partner is the subject of international texts on women's and girls' rights, such as the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and all international and national texts on human rights and freedoms and gender equality in dignity and rights. Because any regression and targeting of women socially, legislatively, politically, economically, etc., represents the destruction of the wheel of sustainable development in the entire country and the consolidation of backwardness and intellectual and human poverty. As a result, it becomes easier to target societal peace negatively. While at every moment, women bear witness to the leadership ability in all fields, including in peacemaking with merit.
Every March 8, may you be happy, united, and celebrating with more joy!
