HHRO Delivering winter clothes and heaters in the Nineveh plain and Baghdad

With more than 2.000 beneficiaries, HHRO marked the end of an Aid campaign coming in cooperation with Christian Solidarity International (CSI), during the winter campaign, HHRO delivered 2.000 winter coats and 253 kerosene heaters between 6/Oct/2010 and 20/Feb/2011 to displaced and poor families in Baghdad and the Nineveh plain including 300 families struggling with poverty who lost members during the violence and terrorism wave.

Mr. Adel Tobia (HHRO’s Aid and Relief officer) provided that:

HHRO delivered kerosene heaters and winter coats to IDPs and poor families in all cities, villages and towns of Hamdaniya, Sinjar and Tal-Kief (which includes: Qaraqosh, Karamlis, Bartella, Tal-Kief, Batnai, Tal-Skuf, Alqosh, Sharafiya, Ba’qofa, Bandaway, Sonony district and Sinjar district center).

The distribution also included hundreds of families living in compounds  (the Armenian compound in Karamlis, Al-Taakhi and St. George compound in Qaraqosh, Al-Mahabba compound in Bartella) with more than 250 children being the beneficiaries of this campaign in Baghdad in Al-Dwora block including different Iraqi religious and sectarian components.

 Adding that the distribution also included:

  • The Orphans of Al-Saida (the lady) monastery and the nuns orphanage in Alqosh.

  • Cities, villages and towns in Hamdaniya district, where 150 heaters were delivered and 816 jackets were given to the youths in those areas.

  • More than 650 individuals including children received jackets in Tal-Kief district and 103 heaters were given.

  • The monastery and the orphanage of Al-Naser in Mosul.

This campaign took place with cooperation between Hammurabi Human Rights Organization (HHRO) and Christian Solidarity International (CSI) to support and alleviate the suffering of the poor and displaced in the Nineveh plain and Baghdad.
