As Part of Humanitarian Campaign on Occasion of Christmas and New Year, Hammurabi Human Rights Organization Distributes Winter Clothing to Schools for Displaced in Erbi

In a new humanitarian step, and on the occasion of Christmas and the New Year, a team from Hammurabi Human Rights Organization in Erbil, in cooperation with Christian Solidarity International (CSI), distributed winter clothing (jackets) to students of schools for the displaced affiliated with the Nineveh representation. The schools benefiting from this campaign included: Sarah and Behnam School, Baharkah School, al-Adhra’ al-Ula, al-Rafidain, al-Salam, and Aghsan al-Karmah School, especially the orphans and poor children in them.

The distribution process continued for three days, starting from December 18 to 20, 2024. A total of 188 jackets were distributed to male and female students, with the aim of providing them with the necessary support during the harsh winter.

The activity’s distribution and supervision was carried out by Ms. Taghrid Idris Kamil, head of the Erbil branch, and was followed up by Ms. Nadia Batti, a member of the organization’s board of directors, and the rest of the Erbil branch’s members, including Mazin Faruq, Hanan Wadi‘, Ilham Isma‘il, Rita ‘Isa, Wafa’ Nafi‘, Zina Tariq, and Yvonne Wadi‘.

This initiative aims to ease the burden on displaced families, providing warmth and protection for children during the winter. This step comes within the framework of the Hammurabi Organization’s ongoing efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to the displaced and migrants in cooperation with Christian Solidarity International (CSI).

Mr. William Warda, the general supervisor of this campaign, gave a statement to Nergal Gate News Network, saying: “We at the Hammurabi Organization believe in the importance of providing support to the displaced, especially children, in light of the difficult circumstances they are going through with the escalation of cold weather in the region, and we hope that this assistance will contribute to improving their living conditions and providing them with a warmer educational environment.”

In a related context, Ms. Taghrid Idris said: “We chose the schools of the displaced and the poorest children to bring joy to their hearts on New Year’s Day and Christmas, and we thank Christian Solidarity International for its continuous support for marginalized groups through its partnership with the Hammurabi Human Rights Organization.”
