2014/06/29 - A joint team from Christian Solidarity International (CSI-USA) and Hammurabi Human Rights Organization (HHRO) consisting of Mr. William Warda from HHRO and Dr. John Eibner and Joel Veldkamp from CSI participated in distributing aid to displaced families fleeing the violence in Mosul, Hamdaniya and other villages and towns. The distributed items included a food basket, milk for children, home appliances, medicine and sterilizers.
The distribution began in the Nineveh plain and the outskirts of Mosul including the displaced families stuck in between Mosul and Erbil, the team managed to reach the furthest point. In addition to relief the team conducted a number of meetings and interviews with the families to comfort and soothe their fear.
HHRO formed a national crises management cell led by Mr. Louis Merqus (vice-president of HHRO) and a number of members of HHRO who scattered across the nation in most of the Nineveh plain’s villages and towns, adopting a relief program and a process to keep up with the conditions and issues of displaced families.
