On 13 May, the 2nd day of the training workshop held by Hammurabi Human Rights Organization in cooperation with Minority Rights Group International on monitoring, documenting and reporting about human rights violations was concluded.

The 2nd day began by an exercise where the participants stood facing each other and everyone had to memorize the looks and characteristics of the person in front of him, and describe him later on, this training aimed to teach the trainees about principals of describing a person or a location using proper terminologies.

Following that, Mr. Khidher Domle, Member of Peace building Center in University of Duhok and Expert & Trainer in Media and Minority, talked about how to describe what happened during a violation and how to relay this description of people or environments related to a violation to the concerned authorities or personnel.

In this regards, Mr. William Warda, HHROs Public Relations Officer and the director of the training program, stressed the importance of this subject especially that HHRO struggles much when they receive reports that are lacking or written by unqualified people.

Afterwards, the trainees were divided into groups, each group had to choose a certain type of violation and write about the nature of that violation and which steps could be taken to monitor and document, this was followed by a number of exercises in this regards, the trainer, Mr. Domle focused on this subject for the importance of being able to know how to choose a certain violation and report and document it, adding (the main goal for monitoring human rights is to strengthen the states responsibility for the protection of human rights).

 

At the end, every group had to write a report about a specific violation and present the report to the other groups, then for the trainer to discuss and correct any type of misunderstanding or mistake in the monitoring and documentation process described by the trainees.

Ms. Pascale Warda, president of HHRO, sent a congratulatory letter from France to the participants for their participation and effort to help and aid human rights organizations.

During the workshop HHRO distributed a number of questionnaires to the participants in regards to the causes of homelessness, which could be used later to understand the nature of this phenomenon, how to work towards a solution and the different views of such a phenomenon.
