- William Warda participates in the training workshop in Washington on US aid
Mr. William Warda, Director of Public Relations of Hammurabi Human Rights Organization, participated in the training workshop during the First Ministerial Conference held in Washington, on July 24-26, 2018 and sponsored by the US government.
Number of experts from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the US State Department Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) spoke about the funding opportunities and grants offered by the US government and the mechanisms for submitting them to projects to promote religious freedom and improve human rights.
Mr. Warda said that local Iraqi organizations often fail to obtain grants from the US government because of the complex mechanisms and difficulty of registering for grants, taking a long time, while the time allowed to submit projects is too short not to exceed 15 days.
Mr. Warda also called for more opportunity to Iraqi firm organizations working with the society on the ground directly to benefit from the opportunities of grants provided. He also stressed the need to put projects and information before a suitable period and the adoption of Arabic language in accepting projects because translating projects and documents into English takes a long time.
