Hammurabi Organization Launches Relief Program for Christmas and New Year 2025
On December 15, 2024, the Hammurabi Human Rights Organization launched a campaign to provide relief to the poor, orphans, needy, and low-income people on the occasion of Christmas and New Year 2025, in several areas in Iraq. The campaign will focus on distributing winter jackets for boys and girls of all ages, including people with disabilities and special needs. It will also distribute school bags and supplies to needy students from kindergarten, primary and intermediate schools.
The Hammurabi Organization has set up a plan to provide more than 1,200 people with jackets, as well as 600 male and female students with school bags and supplies, in partnership and cooperation with Christian Solidarity International (CSI).
The Organization has formed purchasing committees in several Iraqi governorates that the campaign focuses on, namely Baghdad, Erbil, Duhok, Basra, and Diwaniyah.
In Erbil, the campaign coordinator, Mr. Farhan Yousif Al-Khuzaimi prepared winter clothes (jackets) for more than 170 people, both males and females, in cooperation with the purchasing committee formed for this purpose from the Organization’s Erbil branch, on Sunday December 15, 2024.
In Duhok, Mr. Al-Khuzaimi supervised the process of purchasing jackets and distributing them to beneficiaries. The Hammurabi team, consisting of Mr. Al-Khuzaimi, Warda Nisan, Azzam Ayad and volunteer Muhammad Mohsen, distributed winter jackets to the poor and orphans of the village of Jambur, south of Duhok, and 38 children benefited from these. They also distributed winter jackets at the orphanage of Our Lady’s Monastery in Alqosh, with 10 orphans benefitting from them. They further developed a distribution plan for orphans at the nuns’ convent in Alqosh during the coming days.
In Baghdad, the Hammurabi Organization has been coordinating and cooperating closely with the Labor and Social Affairs Ministry for more than two months, to distribute jackets to some orphanages and centers for people with disabilities and special needs, including 400 children with this assistance. A joint team comprising the Hammurabi Organization, as well as the Minister’s Office and Organizations Department at the Labor Ministry, is scheduled to start distributing a batch of assistance to an orphanage, as well as a center for people with disabilities and special needs next Thursday December 19, 2024, and also on Tuesday December 24, 2024.
It is worth noting that the campaign was launched on December 15, 2024 and will continue until January 15, 2025.
