Hammurabi Human Rights Organization completed the 8th edition of the second phase of the workshop on the rights of persons with disabilities.

The four hours workshop was held on Saturday, 27th,April 2024 at Al-Mahaba brotherhood headquarters in Baghdad.

The agenda of the workshop included a welcoming speech by Mr. William Warda, the general coordinator of the project named the Inclusivity of the Right, for the participants being families of people with disabilities ,the management team was also introduced.

Then, the researcher, Mrs. Pascale Warda, presenting a lecture on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, basis for all other rights, including the rights of people with disabilities, pointing out the embodiment of these rights and its passage through several stages and the great challenges faced until approved internationally and became an executive moral crisis that cannot be shied away from.

A team from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs then carried out another part of the workshop

The Ministry team included Mr. Omar Farouk Al-Hafith and Dr. Yassin Kathem Al-Sudani. The two rotated presentations on the Ministry's mission to support disability rights under Iraqi Law No. 38 of 2013, the executive responsibilities including 15 of it and the importance of communicating in the realization of these rights in the fields of health services, education, employment and university education and the use of modern techniques that help persons with disabilities in a decent life.

The agenda of the workshop included the  International Convention of 2006 aiming to promote the concept of disability as part of human diversity and its operational mechanisms by achieving inclusion, rehabilitation and non-discrimination, in a way that preserves the dignity of people with disabilities.

The workshop concluded with a documentary film by Hammurabi Human Rights Organization highlighting the accomplishments of the organization in the field of human rights. During its four hours, the workshop witnessed clarification on all questions and queries raised by participants.
