Hammurabi Discusses Prospects for Joint Cooperation in Human Rights Awareness Field with College of Education Dean at al-Mustansiriyah University
On the morning of December 10, 2024, a delegation from the Hammurabi Human Rights Organization, which included Board of Directors member and Director of Public Relations Mr. William Warda, along with General Authority member and Human Rights Culture Promotion Project Coordinator Dr. Saif Adnan, visited the Deanship of the College of Education at al-Mustansiriyah University. The delegation met with Dr. Tariq Hashim Abboud, Dean of the College of Education, in the presence of Dr. Fahd Muslim Al-Fajr, Head of the History Department.
The meeting discussed prospects for scientific cooperation and providing workshops to promote human rights for students, as well as developing their capabilities and efficiency in raising awareness of the rights of minorities and people with disabilities and special needs, as well as women’s rights and combating violence against them, and children’s rights. His Excellency the Dean welcomed the Hammurabi Human Rights Organization’s initiative and its efforts to develop community awareness of human rights and marginalized groups. He further stressed the importance of forming a generation that is aware of rights and producing a culture that respects women and their rights, in addition to enhancing understanding of the rights of children, minorities and people with disabilities.
For his part, Mr. William Warda, the Organization’s public relations manager, stressed the importance of the role of universities and colleges in spreading awareness among students, as well as encouraging scientific awareness seminars and workshops to be held for them, since they are the ones who will manage the country’s administration in the future.
In this context, Dr. Saif Adnan Arhim, the coordinator of the human rights promotion project implemented by the Hammurabi Organization, pointed out the need to arrange for a workshop to be held at the History Department soon, on the subject of women’s and children’s rights, in order to open up prospects for future joint cooperation between the Hammurabi Organization and the College of Education.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. William Warda thanked His Excellency the Dean of the College of Education for receiving the Hammurabi Organization’s delegation and welcoming the Organization’s program, which seeks to hold similar workshops at many Iraqi universities and colleges. Mr. Warda also appreciated the Dean’s approval to hold a workshop on the abovementioned topics at the History Department, in coordination with Dr. Fahd Al-Fajr, Head of the History Department.
