On Saturday 20/8/2022, a delegation from Hammurabi Human Rights Organization met Bishop Bashar Warda, head of the Chaldean Archdiocese of Erbil in his office in Ankawa - Erbil
The meeting, attended by Mr. William Warda, head of the Public Relations Committee of the organization, and Riyath Shaan, head of the Erbil branch of Hammurabi Organization, shared views on many humanitarian issues and projects, discussing ways of assisting citizens in Erbil, especially the poor and marginalized people. Mr. Warda reviewed some humanitarian projects in the region carried out by Hammurabi Organization especially those being implemented with Christian Solidarity International and other partners, the Head of the Hammurabi Relations Committee appreciated the role played by Archbishop Bashar Warda in establishing sustainable development projects in the region particularly the role of the Catholic University in Erbil, which is undergoing an unprecedented development in its programs and curricula, the rapid expansion of its divisions and the advancement of the level of education. Mr. Warda also expressed the readiness of Hammurabi Organization and some of its partners to support this development in order for further benefit for students, especially with low income
For his part, the Archbishop's Warda provided an explanation of the future prospects for the development of the University and the budget allocated thereto and the methods used by the University to assist the poor and creative students as well as its uses of modern scientific methods in digital automation and the use of modern technology in education
At the end of the meeting the Bishop donated the delegation a copy of his recent book entitled "You are our message written in our hearts as a service to pastoral leadership", a 141-pages medium-cut book addressing the issue of pastoral leadership focusing on the importance of ability to learn, educate, continuous service to others, take responsibility and humbly rise to the level of influence in society and awaken hope among people to promote the public good.
