On December 28, 2024, a team from Hammurabi Human Rights Organization, headed by the organization’s president Mrs. Pascal Warda, visited poor areas in al-Mahmudiyah district, including the village of al-Shishan in al-Yusufiyah sub- district. This visit was accompanied by the distribution of winter clothes (jackets) to orphans, the poor and the needy, from which 60 boys and girls benefited. The distribution also included school bags for elementary and middle school students, from which 23 boys and girls benefited. The team included Husayn Kamal al-Ta‘i, a member of the Hammurabi Organization’s General Assembly, Yasin ‘Ali, and a number of other volunteers from the organization.
On January 6, 2025, at another location on the outskirts of Baghdad, the organization’s president Mrs. Pascal Warda and active volunteer Ruqayyah Ghafir distributed other aid items including jackets and food baskets to the poor and orphans in the ‘Awayrij area south of Baghdad, which included 30 families. After learning about the level of poverty and poor living conditions experienced by residents in the villages south of Baghdad and its outskirts, Mrs. Warda told the Nergal News Gate Network that these limited distributions do not meet the required need and directed the Hammurabi Organization’s relief department to increase aid to those areas, urging state institutions to increase their interest in the residents of the places she visited and their conditions.
